Gold Jewellery

Some people have particular tastes in jewellery. This can either be the style of the gems, the diamonds or even a particular brand. One of the main tastes is whether a person prefers gold or silver jewellery. Where some people will wear both types, you will more often than not find that a person has a particular leaning towards either gold or silver earrings.
Here’s a look at gold jewellery, with next week’s blog focussing on silver jewellery.

24k pure gold is actually soft and so is usually mixed with a base metal that changes its properties. This process is called to alloy the metal and it changes its hardness, ductility, melting point and colour. Alloys of either 22k, 18k, 14k or 10k usually contain higher percentages of copper or are also other base metals such as silver or palladium in the alloy. The most common though is copper and if often used as the base metal since it creates a redder colour.

Have a look at this complete list of facts about gold.
